About the same time I was working on doing some needed firmware updates for products I was testing, I both stumbled upon this note on the NikonUSA site and I received an email from someone else who had found the same notice:
"IMPORTANT: To users of the Nikon 1 V2
Please do not use the Nikon 1 V2 (A/B firmware Ver. 1.00) to upgrade 1 NIKKOR lens firmware. As the lens firmware will not be accurately upgraded, attempting to do so will result in problems with 1 NIKKOR lenses that prevent their use.
Though we apologize for the inconvenience, users of the Nikon 1 V2 who require firmware upgrades for their lenses should request upgrades from their nearest Nikon service representative. In addition, if you have already upgraded 1 NIKKOR lens firmware using the Nikon 1 V2, please consult your nearest Nikon service representative.
1 NIKKOR lens firmware can be accurately upgraded using any Nikon 1 camera except the Nikon 1 V2."
Be warned. You can mess up your lens/camera communication if you accidentally perform the lens updates with a V2 body. Since some of the updates were simply allowing for the lens button to control on/off of the camera, this is a warning to pay close attention to.
