RF-S lenses work on all Canon R cameras, but have an image circle that supports only the APS-C frame size (on the full frame cameras they will automatically crop to APS-C). The RF-S lenses have an appropriate image circle for the R7, R10, R50, and R100 cameras.

Canon does not currently have a road map for specific future RF-S lenses. The most-mentioned rumors of future RF-S lenses include the following:
- 11-22mm f/4.5-5.6 IS RF-S
- 22mm f/2 RF-S
