Thom's Commentary: Nikon makes strong claims about low flare, lack of focus breathing, focus speed and precision. They promote this lens as a breakthrough lens design at the focal length, much like they did the NOCT. And guess what? I find that they've mostly delivered on those claims. The best autofocus 50mm Nikon has produced. Unfortunately, it's big and heavy, so make sure you really need what it delivers, otherwise the 50mm f/1.8 S is probably the right lens for you. Recommended (conditionally) Read Thom's review of the 50mm f/1.2 S lens
