Buried deep within Sony's financial statements released today was these revenue lines:
- Digital Imaging, Q3/2010 188.5b yen, Q3/2011 120.1b yen, -36%
- Digital Imaging, Q1-3/2010 523.2b yen, Q1-3/2011 394.1b yen, -24.7%
No doubt the floods in Thailand had a big impact on this at the high end (NEX-7 and some Sony DSLRs were out of production for several months), but to some degree the floods only accelerated a trend already present. Overall, Sony has bigger problems to fix than the camera group, but to see a pioneer in digital imaging having such a tough time is a shame, and this needs fixing, fast.
